What did Adam and Eve pray to God about?

God created the heavens and the earth in six days. On the sixth day He made Adam, and a little later also Eve. Together they walked with God in the garden. They could come close to Him and talk with Him face to face. Have you ever wondered: What did Adam and Eve talk about with God?

We know many kinds of prayer: prayer for others, prayer for our country, prayer for the sick, prayer for protection and for what we need. But Adam and Eve did not need any of that. They were alone, the land was perfect, there was no lack, no sickness, no children to pray for. Everything was good.

Still, they spoke with God. About what?

I believe Adam and Eve talked with God about their daily life in the garden. They enjoyed everything God had made and shared their wonder with Him. Maybe Adam told how he gave names to the animals, which one he liked most, how special he found the giraffe’s long neck, or how he laughed at the strange look of a platypus. They lived close to God and involved Him in everything they saw, thought and felt. Not because they needed something, but because they loved Him.

And here is a deep lesson for us. God wants you to share your life with Him. Not only when you need something, but also in the normal moments of your day. He wants to hear what you experienced today, what made you thankful, what touched you or made you laugh. He longs for you, because you are His child.

God did not create Adam because He needed a worker, but because He wanted a relationship. Adam was made to enjoy God’s presence, to delight in His goodness, and to have fellowship with Him.

Sometimes we are so busy doing things, even for God, that we forget to enjoy time with God. But He invites you: enjoy His love, rest in His nearness, and thank Him, not just for what He does, but most of all for who He is.

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant.”

(Psalm 25:14, NKJV)

“The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”

(Zephaniah 3:17, NKJV)

Let this truth sink into your heart today: your heavenly Father wants to spend time with you. Not because He needs something from you, but because He loves you.
